Make members trust your verify page before they click
Cautious newcomers hesitate at any page that asks them to log in. RestoreCord gives you several signals that say this one is safe. Here's how to use each of them.
Short answer
Keep the flow on Discord's own consent screen, switch IP logging off if you don't need it so the page shows the no-logging badge, apply for the Verified badge, show real feedback in the carousel, keep scopes minimal and explain the button in your verify message.
Why members hesitate
Discord users are rightly wary of fake verification pages that steal tokens or passwords. Your page has to prove it's not one of them in the few seconds before a newcomer decides. The good news: RestoreCord's flow is built so the scary part never happens, and the page can say so.
The page never asks for a password
Logging in and approving happen on discord.com, on Discord's own screen. RestoreCord only receives the authorisation the member grants there. RestoreCord's own setup guide puts it plainly: never ask members for passwords or tokens, because verification only needs Discord's OAuth screen.
If anyone in your server is sent a "verify" link that asks for a password or a token, it isn't yours. Say this in your rules so members know what to report.
Badges next to your name
| Badge | What it tells visitors | How you get it |
|---|---|---|
| Green globe | Their IP address will not be logged or saved | Switch IP logging off for the server |
| Yellow check | RestoreCord verified the server as safe and legitimate | Request Verification in Visual settings |
The globe is a trade-off. IP logging powers IP-based checks and IP details in webhook logs, so only switch it off if your protection doesn't rely on them. If it does, explain why in your description instead.
Explain the button in your verify message
Your Discord message is where trust starts. Message Studio replaces variables when it sends, so you can write a message that names your server and states exactly what will happen:
Welcome to {server_name}, home of {member_count} members.
Press Verify below. Discord will ask you to approve our bot,
and that's it. We never ask for your password or token.
Link not working? Open {verify_url} directly. The verify slot only publishes if the design keeps a Verify button or a {verify_url} link. A link-only design posts through a webhook, so your custom name and avatar show as the sender.
The link preview
Paste your verify link into Discord and it unfurls into a card titled Verify in followed by your server name, with an image built from your name, icon, background, description and theme colour. Check it once; it's the first impression for anyone you invite from outside the server.
Social proof and small scopes
- Turn on the feedback carousel once you have a handful of genuine reviews; it shows the latest ten
- Ask only for identify and guilds.join unless a rule needs more, so returning members skip the consent screen
- Add social links on Premium so visitors can cross-check you elsewhere
Unlisted and private servers tell search engines not to index their verify page, so a private community stays out of search results. For the screens a member passes through, read the member flow; for styling, see the customisation guide.
